You Against Me
Jenny Downham
Release Date: Sept. 13th 2011
Pages: 416
Source: Library
If someone hurts your sister and you're any kind of man, you seek revenge.
If your brother's accused of a terrible crime but says he didn't do it, you defend him.
When Mikey's sister claims a boy assaulted her, his world begins to fall apart. When Ellie's brother is charged with the offense, her world begins to unravel. When Mikey and Ellie meet, two worlds collide.
This is a brave and unflinching novel from the bestselling author of Before I Die. It's a book about loyalty and the choices that come with it. But above all, it's a book about love.
My Thoughts:
This book is just simply amazing! I read it in a couple of hours, nonstop and this book keeps you hooked, with your eyes glued to the pages! This is the first book I have read by Ms. Downham, but I have heard about her other book; Before I Die and I will definitely be checking out that soon!
Honestly, I LOVED Mikey and how sweet and protective of his sister he was...and then he meets Ellie. And everything changes. I thought Mikey had so many responisibilties and it made me feel so sorry for him. He was so young and he had to take care of his sisters and his mom. Ellie on the other hand was different. I like Ellie, too. She was honest to herself and knew what to do! When they meet, you can actually imagine the electricity between them, because it is exactly how the synopsis describes it; Two worlds collide.
You Against Me is a book I recomend strongly and I really hope that you pick it up, because I can't say how much it's worth reading!

The Name Of The Star by Maureen Johnson
The Name Of The Star
Maureen Johnson
Release Date: September 29th
Pages: 370
Source: Library
The day Louisiana teenager Rory Deveaux arrives in London marks a memorable occasion. For Rory, it's the start of a new life at a London boarding school. But for many, this will be remembered as the day a series of brutal murders broke out across the city, gruesome crimes mimicking the horrific Jack the Ripper events of more than a century ago.
Soon "Rippermania takes hold of modern-day London, and the police are left with few leads and no witnesses. Except one. Rory spotted the man police believe to be the prime suspect. But she is the only one who saw him. Even her roommate, who was walking with her at the time, didn't notice the mysterious man. So why can only Rory see him? And more urgently, why has Rory become his next target? In this edge-of-your-seat thriller, full of suspense, humor, and romance, Rory will learn the truth about the secret ghost police of London and discover her own shocking abilities.
My Thoughts:
The Name Of The Star was amazing! I want to move to London, now! Ms. Johnson's writing was very beautiful and it had some great flow in it.
I loved all of the characters in The Name Of The Star! Every single one of them had their own spot in the story that I loved. I loved the main character, Rory. The way she thought was very relatable and she had some amazing friends. Jazza was so sweet and Rory and her became friends from the very beginning. I has some serious problems with Boo, from the beginning, but they faded after a while. She could be funny sometimes! Jerome was adorable, in my opinion and I loved the way he some kind of obsession with The Ripper!
The idea behind this story was so interesting. Jack the Ripper has always been an interesting topic for me (and many others). There were some parts where I was practically yelling "Who the heck IS the Ripper? Someone tell me!!" out loud. Yeah, I know, I know..But it's true! This book makes you think, actually THINK about the Ripper!
I'm just going to tell you to read The Name Of The Star, because this is one of these books that makes you crave the sequel! Read. Now, please!

Love-Hate Relationship: Which characters from a book do you love to hate?
This is a hard question! There are a lot of people I hate from books, in which I also love to hate. Some books just wouldn't be the same without these people and some of these characters are just adorable on a sick way! :D

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
The Scorpio Races
Maggie Steifvater
Release Date: October 18th, 2011
Pages: 404
Source: Publisher (Thank you so much Catherine!)
It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. Some riders live. Others die.
At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.
Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn’t given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen.
My Thoughts:
The Scorpio Races is that kind of book you have to leave everything on your brain on the side and focus on the story, because if you miss one sentence, the story will be different. The Scorpio Races gives you the same feeling like Maggie's Shiver Series.
I really liked Kate and her two brothers. She could be a bit unfair sometimes, but definitely someone I could relate to. I preferred to call her Kate, it made her more mature. Sean was...Sean. Nothing like ANYONE I've ever seen. He was definitely one of the quiet type and I loved him for that. For staying calm, no matter what. I also loved Gabe, Kate's older brother. Even though he wanted to leave them, I just couldn't help it!
I do recommend The Scorpio Races, to all of Maggie's fans. This book need to be read on a cold day so you can snuggle up on a couch with a hot chocolate and just read about the horses and other cold days.

Cold Kiss by Amy Garvey
Cold Kiss
Amy Garvey
Release Date: September 20th, 2011
Pages: 304
Source: Library
It was a beautiful, warm summer day, the day Danny died.
Suddenly Wren was alone and shattered. In a heartbroken fury, armed with dark incantations and a secret power, Wren decides that what she wants—what she must do—is to bring Danny back.
But the Danny who returns is just a shell of the boy Wren fell in love with. His touch is icy; his skin, smooth and stiff as marble; his chest, cruelly silent when Wren rests her head against it.
Wren must keep Danny a secret, hiding him away, visiting him at night, while her life slowly unravels around her. Then Gabriel DeMarnes transfers to her school, and Wren realizes that somehow, inexplicably, he can sense the powers that lie within her—and that he knows what she has done. And now Gabriel wants to help make things right.
But Wren alone has to undo what she has wrought—even if it means breaking her heart all over again.
My Thoughts:
Cold Kiss was nothing like what I expected. I can say that I was surprised from the very first chapter. It was a nice book to read and I really liked it!
I didn't like Wren as a character. I thought she made some bad decisions and yeah, I know I should give her a chance, but she just didn't work. One person I DID like was Danny. He was adorable, and I loved reading the flashbacks from Wren's memory! I also liked her friends, even though we didn't read that much about them, but I thought that it was so nice that they kept giving her a chance.
Cold Kiss was a great book and I really liked Ms. Garvey's writing. It was original and had it's own magic!
If you like reading about witches, magic and love; This books is for you!
