The Fine Art of Truth or Dare
Melissa Jensen

Ella is nearly invisible at the Willing School, and that's just fine by her. She's got her friends - the fabulous Frankie and their sweet cohort Sadie. She's got her art - and her idol, the unappreciated 19th-century painter Edward Willing. Still, it's hard being a nobody and having a crush on the biggest somebody in the school: Alex Bainbridge. Especially when he is your French tutor, and lessons have started becoming, well, certainly more interesting than French ever has been before. But can the invisible girl actually end up with a happily ever after with the golden boy, when no one even knows they're dating? And is Ella going to dare to be that girl?

Deadly Little Voices by Laurie Faria Stolarz

Deadly Little Voices
Laurie Faria Stolarz

Release Date: December 6th, 2011
Pages: 343

High school junior Camelia thought her powers of psychometry only gave her the ability to sense the future through touch. But now she’s started to hear voices. Mean voices. Berating her, telling her how ugly she is, and that she’d be better off dead. It’s a troubling development that has Camelia terrified for her mental stability, especially since her deranged aunt with a suicidal history just moved into the family house. More torturing, ex-boyfriend Ben, who has similar psychometric abilities, has been spending more time with their classmate Alejandra, even as her own feelings for Adam grow stronger. Still, the bond between Camelia and Ben is palpable.

With the line between right and wrong fraying, Camelia turns to pottery to get a grasp on her emotions. She begins sculpting a beautiful figure skater, only to receive frightening premonitions that someone’s in danger. But who is the victim? And how can Camelia help them when she is on the brink of losing her own sanity?
My Thoughts:

Let me start off with telling you guys my relationship with the Touch series. I read the second one first (and then I reread the whole series in its order), Deadly Little Lies, because I didn't know that it was the second one, but I fell in love with basically everything. Ms. Faria's writing is captivating and...I can't even describe it. So now you know that!

Camelia is a wonderful character, she's strong and I loved how she tried to keep her sanity. Ben, oh Ben. Ben's amazing, and by that I mean in every way! I'm totally Team Ben, even though I do have a weak point for Adam. Although, Ben could get on my nerves, because he clearly has veery strong feelings for Camelia,  and doesn't tell her, while Adam puts it into words.

I love how Ms. Faria always puts an awesome twist towards the end of the book. It makes the reader think, really think, and then it turns out completely different, she also makes such an strong picture of the characters. Even though there's a LOT going on in the book, everything is organized and you are aware of what's happening.

If you haven't read the Touch series, I don't even know what you are waiting for. Go buy all of them. Like now. You won't regret, because Ms. Faria doesn't disappoint.

Unraveling
Elizabeth Norris

Two days before the start of her junior year, seventeen-year-old Janelle Tenner is hit by a pickup truck and killed—as in blinding light, scenes of her life flashing before her, and then nothing. Except the next thing she knows, she’s opening her eyes to find Ben Michaels, a loner from her high school whom Janelle has never talked to, leaning over her. And even though it isn’t possible, Janelle knows—with every fiber of her being—that Ben has somehow brought her back to life.

But her reincarnation, and Ben’s possible role in it, is only the first of the puzzles that Janelle must solve. While snooping in her FBI-agent father’s files for clues about her accident, she uncovers a clock that seems to be counting down to something—but to what? And when someone close to Janelle is killed, she can no longer deny what’s right in front of her: Everything that’s happened—the accident, the murder, the countdown clock, Ben’s sudden appearance in her life—points to the end of life as she knows it. And as the clock ticks down, she realizes that if she wants to put a stop to the end of the world, she’s going to need to uncover Ben’s secrets—and keep from falling in love with him in the process.

However, when the people of ancient Greece mistake Zoe for an Olympian, the Gods must restore the balance of the ancient world… No matter what.

Zoe is forced to play a confusing and dangerous game as Hera rallies the gods against her—all except for Zeus, the beautiful, winged young god who risks everything to save her.

Out of time and out of her element, teenager Zoe Calder finds herself in ancient Greece, battling against the power of the Olympians and the vengeance of a scorned goddess—all for the strange and mysterious boy she has come to love.

My Thoughts:

Let me just tell y'all something, this right here is pure awsomeness! I loved The Dig and Ms. Hart's writing that hooked me from the very first page and had me laughing out loud all along the story!

I loved Zoe as a character, she was brave, nice and (very!) emotional, when needed. She wasn't afraid to tell the people around her what she really thought! She was just great. I loved reading about the thoughts she had on Blondie, I really liked the name she gave him. Blondie was very a very calm person, that's what I liked the most about him. The plot itself was original and it had some great twists!

Ms. Hart's writing was amazing and I appreciated the humour she threw in with the rest of the ingredients to create this awesome story! I can't wait to find out what happens next in Zoe and Zeus story.

Possess by Gretchen McNeil

Possess
Gretchen McNeil

Release Date: August 23rd, 2011
Pages: 384
Source: Borrowed

Fifteen-year-old Bridget Liu just wants to be left alone: by her mom, by the cute son of a local police sergeant, and by the eerie voices she can suddenly and inexplicably hear. Unfortunately for Bridget, it turns out the voices are demons – and Bridget has the rare ability to banish them back to whatever hell they came from.

Terrified to tell people about her new power, Bridget confides in a local priest who enlists her help in increasingly dangerous cases of demonic possession. But just as she is starting to come to terms with her new power, Bridget receives a startling message from one of the demons. Now Bridget must unlock the secret to the demons' plan before someone close to her winds up dead – or worse, the human vessel of a demon king.

My Thoughts:

I decided to pick up Possess after I read many positive  reviews! My friends warned me that it was really scary and that kind of stuff, but decided to give it a shot anyways. I was definitely not disappointed. I loved Ms. McNeil's writing, it was great and the plot of the story itself was original and great. I didn't find it a bit scary, though. I thought it was more mystery than "scariness" (I'm not sure if that's a word...).

I liked Bridget, as a main character. Not as much as I wanted to, though. I found myself disagreeing with her a lot. I didn't like how she turned away all the help people around her offered her. Overall, she was okay and I liked that the story was from her point of view.

I thought that Ms. McNeil did a great job with writing about such a different topic. I haven't read any exorcism books, or anything like this. I'm not really the horror-kind of person, but Possess didn't disappoint. All character's were organized in the story and I will read the novel, Ten, that's coming out in September this year by Gretchen McNeil.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
Jennifer E. Smith

Release Date: January 2nd, 2012
Publisher: Poppy
Pages: 236

Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. She's stuck at JFK, late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon to be step-mother that Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's in seat 18C. Hadley's in 18A.

Twists of fate and quirks of timing play out in this thoughtful novel about family connections, second chances and first loves. Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

My Thoughts:

Let me just start off with saying the title out loud...To be honest, I absolutely love the title, and the cover and the story, and everything else about this book! I haven't read anything like this before and I loved Ms. Smith's writing. She kept the reader hooked, trying to figure the ending out, without looking at the last page.

The story starts off at an airports, Hadley missed her flight by four minutes and it practically changes her life! I really liked how the story developed, not jumping around or staying at the same place. Oliver was just adorable! He was so sweet and you could tell that there was that little something from when he and Hadley meet. I loved Hadley as the main character! She was honest and nice. I loved to watch Hadley and Oliver's relationship grow.

I tortured myself with reading The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, while listening to 'For The First Time' by The Script (I know, I know!) which left me there, feeling like I had to talk to Hadley before she would lose everything.

One thing that amazed me was how the story was original and realistic. I will definitely read anything that Jennifer E. Smith writes. I know that this book will be one of books you don't forget after finish reading it and I think you should read it too, because it doesn't disappoint!

This year, one of my biggest reading goals is to read 100 books. I reached a little over 90 books, in 2011. But this year I am hopefully going to reach 100! Another one is to read more, but so much that it starts affecting my schoolwork. I will put some extra time to read some extra pages!

Pages: 418

Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.

In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low.

And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war.

Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages--not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out.

When one of the strangers--beautiful, haunted Akiva--fixes his fire-colored eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?

My Thoughts:

This book is so different from anything I've read. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect when I started reading it, because it even looks unique! I can defintely say that I'm not disappointed!

Ms. Laini's writing was great and I liked how the reader had a full, descriptive picture of the characters. I really liked Karou as a main character. She was brave, to run these errands for Brimstone, all around the world. I also liked when Karou met Akiva. It was defintely a different kind of way to meet someone, but there's never too much action!  Akiva was really sweet, but he could also be tough when he needed to. I really liked the chemistry between him and Karou!

Like I said, Ms. Laini's writing was captivating and I can't wait to find out what happens next in The Daughter of Bone and Smoke series!

Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Under The Never Sky
Veronica Rossi

Release Date: January 3rd, 2012
Pages: 384
Source: ARC (Thank you so much, Shannon!)

Aria is a teenager in the enclosed city of Reverie. Like all Dwellers, she spends her time with friends in virtual environments, called Realms, accessed through an eyepiece called a Smarteye. Aria enjoys the Realms and the easy life in Reverie. When she is forced out of the pod for a crime she did not commit, she believes her death is imminent. The outside world is known as The Death Shop, with danger in every direction.

As an Outsider, Perry has always known hunger, vicious predators, and violent energy storms from the swirling electrified atmosphere called the Aether. A bit of an outcast even among his hunting tribe, Perry withstands these daily tests with his exceptional abilities, as he is gifted with powerful senses that enable him to scent danger, food and even human emotions.

They come together reluctantly, for Aria must depend on Perry, whom she considers a barbarian, to help her get back to Reverie, while Perry needs Aria to help unravel the mystery of his beloved nephew’s abduction by the Dwellers. Together they embark on a journey challenged as much by their prejudices as by encounters with cannibals and wolves. But to their surprise, Aria and Perry forge an unlikely love - one that will forever change the fate of all who live UNDER THE NEVER SKY.

My Thoughts:

Let's just keep this simple; Under The Never Sky is an amazing story! I loved every single thing about it and to be honest, I'm willing to re-read this book every month for the rest of the year! I haven't read anything like this before and I thought it was very original.

The story begin with a perfect kind of action that hooks you. Aria is in the woods with her friend and some other people, doing something they're not suppose to do, some crazy stuff begin to happen (do I need to say anything else to catch your interest?) and that just makes it for me! I thought Aria was very brave and thoughtful and I loved her as a character. I went crazy when I read about Perry, he was so different from the rest. And he was sweet and cute...yeah I loved him too! Another character that got my attention was Roar, he was so cute and confident and nice and...I could make a long list!

I really like how Ms. Rossi had a variation during the story, so that the reader could read about how Aria felt, and then what goes on in Perry's. I loved her writing and I absolutely can't wait for the second book!

In this thrilling debut young adult novel, the first of a quartet, Marissa Meyer introduces readers to an unforgettable heroine and a masterfully crafted new world that’s enthralling.

My Thoughts:

I loved Cinder! It was definitely another kind of Cinderella and the story was so.. I don't even know how to describe it! Ms. Meyer's writing was great and I didn't stop until I read the last page!

I loved all of the characters, from Cinder to Dr. Erland. Cinder wasn't exactly how I imagined her to be, she was better! She was brave and I thought it was very sweet of her to take care of her little sister they way she did. Kai was also nice, he had his positives and negatives (you'll know why if you read the book ;) ).
Some character's that did annoy me were Adri, Pearl and Queen Levana. Queen Levana was so mean and rude! So was Adri and Pear, but I guess they were supposed to be like that!

I loved how Ms. Meyer also blended some other ingredients in the story. Her writing was so catching!
The ending was torturous! That cliffhanger!! I need MORE..now!
